Bengt Fellström is professor of nephrology at Uppsala University and senior consultant at Akademiska Sjukhuset. He is also a part-owner of BioConcept AB, the company behind Flexovital.
When the 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine went to the discovery of nitric oxide as a signalling molecule, it caught his attention. Nitric oxide was not his own field — but he saw what the discovery meant, and thought it deserved to reach further than the research community.
That became the starting point for Flexovital, developed during his time at Akademiska Sjukhuset. Not an off-the-shelf raw material someone else had formulated, but an original formula built around that molecule — six ingredients, in doses printed openly on the pouch.
