Protective Effects of the Food Supplement Flexovital in a Model of Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Syndrome in Mice

C57BL/6J mice underwent unilateral nephrectomy and were fed a Western diet high in salt, sugar, and fat for 12 weeks. One group received Flexovital — a food additive containing Rhodiola rosea extract, beetroot extract, L-arginine, and L-citrulline. Cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic parameters were assessed both in vivo and ex vivo.

Section 02 — Findings

What the study
actually found.

In this model of CKM syndrome, Flexovital effectively prevented the onset and progression of cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic dysfunctions.

22%

Less weight gain

Weight gain was 22% less pronounced in the Flexovital group compared to the untreated disease model (p < 0.05).

Reduced blood pressure

Significant reduction in mean arterial pressure, systolic, and diastolic blood pressure. Heart rate unaffected.

Lower fasting glucose

Elevated fasting glucose was reduced by Flexovital, with improved glucose clearance and insulin response.

Better kidney function

Improved GFR (glomerular filtration rate) and reduced glomerular and tubular kidney injuries (p < 0.05).

Endothelial function restored

Endothelium-dependent vasorelaxation (acetylcholine response) was significantly improved by Flexovital.

Mitochondrial efficiency

Increased P/O ratios of oxidative phosphorylation in isolated renal mitochondria — indicating better energy production.

Note: This was a preclinical study conducted on mice. While results are promising, they require validation in upcoming human trials. Flexovital is a dietary supplement, not a medicine. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Section 05 — Foundation

Why nitric oxide
matters.

Nitric oxide (NO) is a signaling molecule produced by your body's endothelial cells. It tells blood vessels to relax and widen — improving circulation to every organ.

As we age, NO production declines. Combined with a sedentary lifestyle and processed diets, this contributes to elevated blood pressure, reduced vascular function, and metabolic issues.

Flexovital's formula targets this decline through two complementary pathways — the eNOS pathway (L-arginine → NO) and the dietary nitrate pathway (beetroot → nitrite → NO).

Key facts about NO
NO production naturally declines with age, starting around 30–40
The 1998 Nobel Prize was awarded for discovering NO's role as a signaling molecule
NO is critical for vascular health, blood pressure regulation, and mitochondrial function
Dietary nitrate (from beetroot) provides a second pathway independent of enzymatic synthesis
Low NO bioavailability is linked to hypertension, diabetes, and kidney disease
